The Test de connaissance du Français (TCF) is a reliable instrument for measuring your skills in French intended to non-native French speakers who wish to assess and certify their level of proficiency in French in a simple and reliable fashion for: Professional purpose, Personal purposes or Academic purposes.

The TCF Canada is composed of 4 modules:

- Oral Comprehension: 35 min – 39 questions

- Written Comprehension: 60 min – 39 questions

- Oral Expression: 12 min – 3 subjects to be covered

- Written Expression: 60 min – 3 mandatory topics to be covered

Make sure your registration for TCF Canada is best suited to your situation. It is the sole responsibility of the candidate to ensure that he/she is registered for the appropriate exam. Alliance Française Calgary and its employees cannot be held responsible for the choices made by the candidate. Please refer to the Immigration Service to select the right test.

You will receive a convocation for your TCF one week before the examination with your schedule.
Please arrive 15 minutes before the examination starts. You will not be granted access to the room after the examination starts.

Important Information

  • The TCF exam will take place at our cSPACE campus (#350, 1721 29th Ave SW).

  • The TCF is valid for 2 years from the date of taking the test and you may take the TCF as many times as you wish (with 1 months between 2 takes).

  • The TCF is not appropriate for candidates under 16 years of age.

  • You will get results in 6 to 8 weeks. We do not have access to your results before the certificates are received at our centre. Certificates are collected from the examination centre where you took your test or can be delivered by registered mail anywhere in Western Canada (Alberta, BC, Saskatchewan, Manitoba) for $20 (purchase the delivery option below or over the phone - you can also purchase this option after taking the test). For information on delivery to other parts of Canada, please contact us at 403-245-5662. Please note that the examination centre cannot be held responsible for lost or damaged mail.

  • No refund or deferment is possible. Cancellations for climatic or personal reasons are not possible.

  • You can train yourself for the exam HERE or take private lessons with AFC. 

  • By registering and paying for the examination, you agree to the terms and conditions of the TCF examinations and you certify that you have read all the necessary documents.

  • Please be aware that, for registration purposes, we will take a picture of you when you arrive for the exam.

Registration Process

  • STEP 1 :  Complete and submit the form. Please complete it a minimum of 21 business days before the date of the exam. After this date, it will not be possible to register!

  • STEP 2 :  Scan your pieced of ID and send it by email at info@afcalgary.ca.

  • STEP 3 :  Pay the fees  at 403 245 5662 to pay by phone (Visa or Mastercard), Tuesday to Friday 10:00AM to 6:00PM and Saturday 10:00AM to 3:00PM. The registration is not complete until full payment has been received. 

  • STEP 4 :  Receive a confirmation by email from Alliance Française about the date of your exam. If you do not hear from us within a week, please contact us at 403 245 5662.
