What is it?
Life happens! If you miss one of your group classes, French Fix gives you the opportunity to catch up with an experienced AFC teacher in a free 1-hour one-on-one session.
Your teacher will help you review the material covered during the class you missed, answer your questions, and get you ready to jump back into your group class.
Who is it for?
French Fix is a complimentary service exclusively for adult, teen, and kid students currently enrolled in an AFC group class who missed one of their classes.
You can request a French Fix up to twice per session. Each appointment is for one hour and is intended to help you catch up on a class you missed. This service is not for regular students who never missed a class.
How do I book an appointment?
Email frenchfix@afcalgary.ca within two weeks of your missed class. Please tell us: which class you missed; what material you would like to review; when you are available.
We will coordinate with our teaching team and send you the available options. We'll do our best to arrange your French Fix with your regular teacher when possible, but your appointment may be with another AFC teacher.
How does the session work?
French Fix is a catch-up session rather than a prepared private lesson. The teacher will not prepare a lesson specifically for your appointment in advance. Since you may meet with a teacher other than your regular teacher, the session will be guided by you and your experience of the class you missed.
Come prepared to share what you'd like to review, where you need clarification, and any questions you have. Your teacher will use the course material to help you review, understand, and practise what you missed so you can confidently rejoin your class.
When are appointments available?
French Fix appointments will generally be scheduled during the daytime on weekdays. Our teachers are especially busy teaching group classes in the evenings and on Saturdays, so availability during those times is usually not possible. We'll work with you to find a suitable time based on teacher availability.
Please note: French Fix is a complimentary service for currently enrolled AFC students and is subject to teacher availability. A maximum of two French Fix appointments per student, per session applies.
