The Alliance Française of Calgary is delighted to welcome Mirion Malle, an author whose comics bring queer characters to life while exploring friendship, solidarity, and the power of storytelling to imagine a more inclusive society.

Join us on Wednesday, June 3rd, at 6:15 pm in the library of the Alliance Française for an engaging discussion in French. This event offers a unique opportunity to meet Mirion Malle and discover her literary journey and creative process.

Through works such as Adieu triste amour, Clémence en colère, C’est comme ça que je disparais and her latest book Le problème avec les fantômes, Mirion Malle engages with contemporary experiences, moving between personal narratives and broader social questions.

The discussion will be moderated by Maëlys, Librarian at the Alliance Française of Calgary, and by Cyrielle Faivre, Assistant Professor of French at the University of Calgary. Since 2022, Cyrielle has shared her expertise in French literature, focusing on the representation of convicts and penal colonies in 19th- and 20th-century French narratives, as well as the portrayal of women in Francophone popular culture. The conversation will be held in French.

- About Mirion Malle -

Mirion Malle is a comic book artist and author. She holds a Master’s degree in sociology and feminist studies, and also studied comics at ESA Saint-Luc (Brussels) and film at the Université de Montréal. She is the author of Commando Culotte (2016, Ankama), as well as This Is How I Disappear, Farewell, Sad Love, and Clémence in Anger (a critically acclaimed trilogy published by La ville brûle). Her latest book, The Problem with Ghosts, published by Glénat in 2025, tells a story of grief and friendship. She has lived in Paris, Brussels, and Montreal, and now resides in the Paris region.
