Join the AFC team for a bike ride on the Bow Valley Parkway (Highway 1A)!
The Bow Valley Parkway is the scenic route connecting Banff to Lake Louise in Banff National Park. During the month of June, it will be closed to car traffic — offering cyclists a rare and unforgettable opportunity to ride through the heart of the Rockies. With breathtaking mountain views and great chances to spot wildlife, the Bow Valley Parkway is truly a must-see in Banff National Park.
We'll meet directly in Banff. You can bring your own bike or rent one from a local shop — we usually go with Snowtips-Bactrax, but there are many good options available.
Before the ride, you'll receive an email with all the necessary information about the activity.
The ride is approximately 50 km round trip, with some steeper sections, so be sure to come prepared.
We will leave Banff at 10:30 a.m. and expect to arrive at Johnston Canyon around 12:30 p.m. for a one-hour picnic. After the break, we’ll head back to Banff at 1:30 p.m., with an estimated return time of 3:30 p.m. Please note that all times are approximate and may vary depending on pace and conditions.
