Ru

> Soirée Ciné

Enjoy a screening of Ru (2023), based on the Governor General’s Award–winning novel by Kim Thúy and directed by Charles-Olivier Michaud.

The life of a young Vietnamese girl, Tinh, changes after a dangerous sea crossing and a stay in a camp in Malaysia, when she and her family are accepted as refugees in Canada. They arrive in Granby, where they begin their new life.

But for Tinh, adapting comes with many challenges. Naturally shy and reserved, she must learn a new language and adjust to her new environment. Haunted by the hardships of the journey, the young girl will have to draw deep within herself the resilience needed for her survival and happiness.

The screening will take place in the AFC library and is suitable for adults only. The film is in French with French subtitles.
