Alliance Française Calgary - Soirée - Art au fil de l'Histoire

What do you really know about Art through the ages?

>  Soirée Découverte

The Alliance Française of Calgary warmly invites you to an unforgettable evening with Diane McNeele, storyteller and acclaimed author, on a brand-new voyage through art history.

This second installment of Art Through the Ages explores the Renaissance, a period of rebirth and creative revolution marked by a profound shift in how artists understood and represented the world. Moving away from the symbolic language of the Middle Ages, Renaissance art embraced observation, balance, and the rediscovery of humanism.

In just 40 minutes, we will discover how artists placed the human being at the center of their work, explored linear perspective to create depth, studied anatomy with scientific curiosity, and developed a new mastery of light, shadow, and color.

Through three key lenses — perspective, drawing, and color — you’ll see how Renaissance artists transformed visual storytelling into a pursuit of realism, harmony, and intellectual expression.

Whether you are an art lover or simply curious, this lecture will change the way you look at Renaissance art.

Please note: this event will be presented in French and is for ADULTS only.
