The Alliance Française of Calgary warmly invites you to an enthralling evening of music with Emily Hamper, pianist, and Phillip Addis, baritone, as they perform masterpieces of French Art Song.

In this 45-minute performance, you will experience the rich harmonies and lyricism of some of France's greatest composers, such as Debussy, Ravel, and Fauré. Emily and Phillip will discuss how this music emerged and blossomed in the 19th and 20th centuries, especially with regards to the poetry that inspired these Mélodies. After the performance the artists will take questions about the songs and their preparation.

Tickets are non-refundable in case of no-shows or changes of plans.

About Emily Hamper and Phillip Addis:

One of Canada's most respected vocal coaches, Emily Hamper is the Head Vocal Coach at Calgary Opera. Hired by national and international opera companies and music organizations, she has collaborated with many of Canada's most recognized singers.

Phillip Addis has established himself as one of Canada's finest and most versatile baritones. With more than forty operatic roles in his repertoire, he has performed on major stages around the world. He teaches voice at the University of Calgary and at the Calgary Opera McPhee Artist Development Program.

In recital, the two have performed in France, Australia and the United States, as well as across Canada. As music teachers, they have shared their love for classical vocal music at several universities and conservatories, and they were founders and co-artistic directors of the Stratford Summer Music Vocal Academy for eight years, where they inspired young artists in all aspects of the classical vocal discipline
