Hike Wind Ridge Trail
> Sport
Wind Ridge Trail is a 12.7-km out-and-back hike near Dead Man's Flats, Alberta. Considered challenging, it takes around 5 hours to complete. Popular for hiking, trail running, and snowshoeing, the trail is also dog-friendly (on leash). See more info on Alltrails here.
The route begins with a wide, gently inclined path, then becomes steeper and less defined after about 5 km, following a ridgeline exposed to strong winds. Proper clothing is essential, especially in cooler seasons. In summer, wildflowers line the trail, and the summit offers breathtaking views of Mount Lougheed, The Sisters, Windtower, and more.
Expect snow drifts in spring and fall; spikes are recommended for the steeper, icy sections. Though demanding, this hike offers an unforgettable experience for well-prepared adventurers.
Please note: if weather conditions are not ideal, the hike may be cancelled.
Participants are responsible for their own transportation to the meeting point, as the AFC is not able to support carpooling services. Also, Alliance Française staff are not professional guides—each participant is responsible for their own safety. We strongly encourage you to research the trail beforehand to ensure it matches your skill level!
All details will be shared via email a few days before the event.
