A1.0 French Intro
Are you interested in learning French but feeling hesitant to start in our general curriculum? Our A0 Intro Course is the perfect starting point for complete beginners who want to learn at a slow and steady pace. Designed to provide a relaxed and supportive learning environment, this course will help you master the basics of French without feeling overwhelmed.
Alternatively, if you're comfortable with a regular beginner's pace, our A1.1 Complete Beginner course is also available. Our expert instructors will guide you through the fundamentals of French, helping you develop the skills you need to succeed no matter which course you choose.
Pace: 8 hours
A1.1 Complete Beginner
This course is designed for complete beginners or those who want to start learning French from scratch. We will cover the basics of French language, including but not limited to:
- The French alphabet and numbers
- Key verbs: être, avoir, s’appeler, parler, habiter
- Greetings, introductions, and polite expressions
- Talking about countries, nationalities, and professions
- Subject pronouns (je, tu...) and stressed pronouns (moi, toi...)
- Asking simple questions and forming negative sentences
The course material will be based on Inspire 1, units 1 & 2.
Pace: 24 hours or 20 hours for small groups (5-6 students)
A1.2 False Beginner
This course is designed for false beginners, or those who have previously been exposed to French but need a refresher. If you
remember just a few things and want to improve your French skills, then this course is perfect for you. We will cover some basics of
French language, including but not limited to:
- Talk about your home and give directions
- Use of the possessive adjectives (mon, ma, mes...)
- Talk about your family and nationalities
- Describe appearance and personality with adjectives (masculin/féminin/pluriel)
- Use key verbs: pouvoir, devoir and -er verbs in the present tense
- Make, accept, and refuse invitations
The course material will be based on Inspire 1, units 3 & 4.
Pace: 24 hours or 20 hours for small groups (5-6 students)
A1.3 Confident Beginner
This course is designed for false beginners who have previously been exposed to French and can recall some basic expressions and verbs. Through this class, you will build on your existing knowledge and learn essential fundamentals of French language, such as:
- Use reflexive verbs to talk about daily routines (se coucher, se lever...)
- Talk about hobbies and leisure activities
- Express quantities and use the irregular verbs prendre, faire, dormir...
- Use partitive articles when speaking about food and leisure
- Talk about the future with the futur proche
- Start using the passé composé
The course material will be based on Inspire 1, units 5 & 6.
Pace: 24 hours or 20 hours for small groups (5-6 students)
A1.4 Strong Beginner
This course is perfect for false beginners who have some familiarity with French and are ready to learn other tenses beyond present tense. In this class, you will continue practicing important basics in French, including but not limited to:
- Talk about cities and places
- Ask for and give directions with prepositions of place
- Talk about shopping, services, and groceries
- Express quantities
- Start using the impératif (affirmative) for instructions and recipes
- Talk about past events with more verbs with the passé composé (avoir/être)
The course material will be based on Inspire 1, units 7 & 8.
Pace: 24 hours or 20 hours for small groups (5-6 students)
Conversation Group A1
Join our French conversation class at the A1 level (A1.2 and above) and improve your ability to communicate in French! Our one-hour lunchtime class is perfect for busy students with limited time who want to improve their speaking skills in a friendly atmosphere. In this class, you will:
- Explore the basic structure of conversations in French
- Enrich your vocabulary by discussing familiar topics
- Practice using common phrases and basic grammar rules
- Improve your speaking skills in a supportive environment
The class size is limited to 8 participants and the material is provided at the start of each class.
