DELF & DALF

The DELF (Diplôme d'Etudes en Langue Française) and the DALF (Diplôme Approfondi de Langue Française) are official diplomas awarded by the French Ministry of Education to certify candidates' proficiency in French. They are the premier international certification for measuring French proficiency. These diplomas are recognized by many institutions and universities around the world and DELF-DALF exams centres are now present in more than 170 countries.

The DELF B2 level gives access to programs in French in most francophone universities in France. It is now widely integrated to French curriculum in secondary school in Alberta.

The DELF and DALF diplomas are independent of each other, so candidates register directly for the examination of their choice without taking the previous levels. At each level, four skills are evaluated: listening, speaking, reading and writing.

To see a detailed overview of the DELF/DALF examinations, sample exams and examples of students' work, you can visit the official website dedicated to the DELF/DALF examinations in Canada here.

If you are under 18, it is recommended to write the DELF junior examination. The junior version of DELF has the same basic structure as the standard DELF. Only the topics are different: the materials take into account the interests of young people. It can only be taken by children of secondary-level age. The diploma awarded is identical to the standard DELF diploma. Click here for more information.

If you have a disability or a condition that may require specific accommodations, please inform AFC before registration. All requests for accommodations must be accompanied by supporting documents (doctor's note to specify the nature of the situation and which arrangements must be made to ensure you take the exam in optimal conditions).

A non-refundable $75 fee will be charged in the event of rescheduling before the registration deadline. No refund or change of test date will be accepted if received after the registration deadline.
IMPORTANT: No refund is possible once you are registered for the exam. We advise candidates to register only if they are certain to write the test on the chosen date.

An official certificate of results will be available from 8 to 12 weeks after the test. Your official diploma will be available for pick-up 6 months after the date of the exam.

By registering and paying for the examination, you agree to our Terms & Conditions and you certify that you have read all the necessary documents.

An official invitation including the schedule will be sent by email to the candidate a few days before the exam. The schedule of the speaking examination will be given in the official invitation and will usually take place later in the day. Candidates must be available all day for the exam.

Please arrive 15 minutes before the examination starts. You will not be granted access to the room after the examination starts.
