Biographic novel – Tu n’habiteras jamais Paris by Omar Benlaala
It’s the story of the author’s father who came from Algeria to Paris and tells how he settled in and the barriers he had to overcome. This story is intertwined with the one of another workman – like the first character – also in exile, who settled near Paris and became a national delegate in the 19th century. A book that talks about migration, social barriers and Paris.
Kids’ book – L’histoire d’Akenda-Mbani by Sami and Yann Lovato
An illustrated book for children to read or to listen to. It tells a story coming from Congo about a beautiful woman who could only marry a man who would die if she’d die. A surprising and well-illustrated story.
