SOIRÉE ROMANS GRAPHIQUES
Marcelino Truong & Sandrine Revel
These two renowned artists will talk about
the artistic process of telling a biographic story through graphic novels.
Marcelino Truong is an illustrator and painter, and the author of Such a Lovely Little War. Born the son of a Vietnamese diplomat in the Philippines, his family moved to America, and then to Vietnam at the outset of the war, before going to London and Paris. Such a Lovely Little War, his first graphic novel is a graphic memoir about the early years of the Vietnam War, seen through the eyes of a young boy, where the turbulent national history is interwined with an equally traumatic familial one. Sandrine Revel is an author and llustrator from Bordeaux. After her education at L'Ecole des Beaux-Arts, she receives a prize from the Festival International de la Bande-Dessinée d'Agoulême for her illustrations. She is the author of more than ten graphic novels as well as children’s comics. In Glenn Gould, A Life Off Tempo, Sandrine Revel dives into the Canadian pianist's life, to try to understand the eccentric personality behind the persona and the abrupt end of his career.
