Vol de nuit, Antoine de Saint-Exupéry
On Wednesday April 18th at 5:30pm, come to @cSPACE and join us for our monthly Book Club. Dive into one classic of French literature, Vol de nuit, by the famous author of Le Petit Prince, aviator Antoine de Saint-Exupéry. This is an amazing opportunity to read a fantastic book in French !
Set in South America, Antoine de Saint-Exupéry depicts the life led by aerospace chief company Rivière and by his pilots team. These latters, sky shepherds, watchmen and messengers at the same time, show determination, courage but also a powerful joy against the elements and the unknown. Between these men and Rivière, despite all odds, a tacit brotherhood will emerge, maybe due to this common certainty: "Happiness can not be found in liberty, but in a duty acceptation".
Vol de nuit is the novel that made Antoine de Saint-Exupéry famous at the age of 30. For this work, he was rewarded by the Prix Femina in 1931. Behind the representation of an aerospace company, the book touches on many universal thematics: heroism, nobleness, love, the thirst for the absolute, and many others.
