Screening of a documentary in presence of the filmmaker
On Saturday, May 26th at 9:30AM, come at cSPACE to enjoy a French breakfast and watch Le choix de Théo a documentary about the preservation of Francophonie in the South-East of the US. The filmmaker, Thomas Cauvin, will introduce the movie and answer your questions.
Enter the universe of Theo Brode who, like so many in Louisiana, chose to learn, speak, and preserve the language of their Cajun, Creoles and other French ancestors. Theo’s Choice (Le Choix de Théo) is a 51 minutes documentary about French language in South-West Louisiana and the struggle to preserve an endangered heritage through immersion schools in the United States.
Born in France, Thomas Cauvin is Assistant Professor of History at the University of Louisiana at Lafayette since 2013. He also has taught and practiced history in Italy and Ireland. In 2016, he published Public History: A Textbook of Practice, addressed to History teachers.
