If you are looking to deepen your knowledge of the French language, you can continue your learning at the AFC:
B1 You can understand the main points of clear standard French on familiar matters regularly encountered in work, school or everyday life. You can deal with most situations likely to arise whilst travelling in an area where French is spoken. You can produce simple sentences about topics which are familiar or of personal interest. You can describe your experiences and events, your dreams & your ambitions and briefly give reasons and explanations for opinions and plans.
The B1 level can be attained in four AFC General French courses (B1.1, B1.2, B1.3, B1.4). See schedules and fees for availability or take a Free placement test. If you’re a returning student to the AFC and are not sure what your level is, check our level equivalency chart.
B2 You can understand the main ideas in complex texts on both concrete and abstract topics, including technical writing in your field. You can interact with a certain degree of fluency which makes regular interactions with native speakers possible without strain for you. You can make clear, detailed statements on a wide range of subjects and explain your point on familiar issues both in writing and speaking.
If you already have a good grasp of the French language, you may work on specific skills or deepen your knowledge in our Specialized French classes. See schedules and fees for availability and register online. If you’re not sure about your level, take our Free placement test.
