From the Red River to the Black Valley
LIMITED ENGAGEMENT!
Cantos Music Foundation, in partnership with the Alliance Française de Calgary, is pleased to present From the Red River to the Black Valley, a musical performance featuring Juno-Award winning Métis musician, Gérald Laroche, from Manitoba and Gilles Chabenat, a hurdy-gurdy player from Lignieres, France. Using traditional First Nations and Francophone instruments, the musicians tell the story of the coureurs des bois, the Métis and voyageurs of New France, the black Valley and the Red River. During this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity, students will be absorbed in the 50 minute concert and storytelling experience followed by a question and answer period with the musicians. Dates are limited so book early! English performances at 10 a.m.
